Kauvatsa is a former municipality (founded 1892, by separating it from municipality of Huittinen) and now part of town of Kokemäki. Kauvatsa was added to town of Kokemäki in 1969. At that time Kauvatsa had 2133 inhabitants, year 2005 population was just under one thousand. Thru history population has varied a lot. Village now looks forward and has made a plan for years 2005-2013 to improve its competitiveness in the area. By summer Kauvatsas population at least doubles because its summer habitants.
